Wagner to greet his fellow freshmen: James Wagner, who will become Emory’s 19th president when he takes office Sept. 2, addressed the Emory community for the first time on July 30 after the Board of Trustees voted him the successor to President Bill Chace. Wagner will preside this week over Convocation both on the main campus and at Oxford (Aug. 26 and 27, respectively) before he moves to Atlanta full time. When Wagner says he plans to immerse himself in the University culture, he’s serious—while Lullwater House is undergoing deferred maintenance, Emory’s new president will live in graduate/faculty housing on Clairmont Campus.
