Victory party for Atlanta-Athens bike ride

Action Cycling Atlanta (ACA) will hold a victory party on Sunday, Aug. 10, to celebrate the success of Action Cycling 200, a 200-mile round-trip fund-raising trip from Atlanta to Athens, held May 31–June 1, that raised some $45,000 for AIDS research at the Emory Vaccine Research Center.

ACA was founded when a group of 17 Atlanta cyclists participated in the 2002 European AIDS Vaccine Ride and raised $100,000. At the celebration event, which will be held at the Park Tavern near Piedmont Park, representatives from the Vaccine Center will discuss its significant progress in HIV/AIDS vaccine research, the status of an Emory-developed vaccine currently in clinical trials, and the continuing importance of research funding. Park Tavern is located at the corner of 10th Street and Monroe Avenue.

The event will be held from 5–7 p.m. on Aug. 10, and complimentary drinks and refreshments will be provided by the restaurant.
