Carter celebrates walk connecting him to King:
Former President Jimmy Carter, former first lady Rosalynn Carter and Coretta Scott King, widow of Martin Luther King Jr., stroll down the newly dedicated Carter-King Peace Walk following its dedication June 27. The Peace Walk is a 1.5-mile stretch of Freedom Park, connecting the Carter Center with the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, that has been illustrated with six exhibits chronicling the lives and works of Georgia’s two Nobel Peace Prize winners. Congressman John Lewis and Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin were among the dignitaries on hand for the dedication. Click here or above for the full story. Photo by University Photography.

Beck, student checking IDs of Lullwater fish: Biology lecturer Chris Beck (left) and Carlos Lozano, a student visiting from the University of Texas–San Antonio, are working this summer to catalogue all the species of fish living in Lullwater’s Candler Lake. The project also will allow them to study fish habitat preferences and migration patterns on a small scale, something Beck says is relatively lacking in the ecological literature.
