Unsung
heroines receive due: Jennifer Mathis (left) was presented with
an award of commendation from Emory Police Department (EPD) by Lt. Cheryl
Elliott at the sixth annual Women’s Center Unsung Heroines award
banquet held Feb. 24. Mathis, who has worked in Facilities Management
since last fall, was on her way to work on Jan. 13 when she helped to
stop an assault on a fellow Emory employee in Lullwater Park. The Women’s
Center and EPD saw the award ceremony as the perfect place to thank
Mathis for her bravery. Click here or

College seniors (l to r) Kyle Wamstad, Joel Boggan, Melissa Roberts and
Dylan Bird have been chosen to receive Robert T. Jones Jr. Memorial Scholarships
for a year of study at the University of St. Andrews (Emory's sister institution)
in Scotland. "The pool of applicants was outstanding," says
Bill Fox, senior vice president for Institutional Advancement and chair
of the selection committee. "We would have been happy to send all
12 finalists, but ultimately we had to choose four winners." Established
in 1976, the scholarship covers full tuition and provides a travel stipend
for recipients.Photo by Jon Rou. |
