Author explores lives of Plath, Hughes: Author Diane Middlebrook visited Woodruff Library on Tuesday, Nov. 4, to discuss her new book, Her Husband: Hughes and Plath: A Marriage, which explores the relationship between poets Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath. Middlebrook, professor emerita at Stanford University, said she found the “coda” to her book when doing research in Special Collections’ Hughes archive. While reading a volume of Hughes’ poetry, she came across his poem, “The Offers,” which she said made the “hairs stand up on her arms.” Photo by University Photography.
