Wagner,
Ramesses headline convocation: Although he admitted he could not officially
welcome the Class of 2007 to Emory (his term as the University’s
19th President didn’t begin until today) Jim Wagner, shown above
speaking to his “fellow freshman” at Convocation, Aug. 27,
certainly did not lack in warmth or excitement. Wagner, who spoke at the
invitation of then-President Bill Chace, was just one of several speakers
at the standing-room-only event, which focused on the impending departure
of Ramesses I, the 3,000-year-old Egyptian pharaoh who was spending his
final days on campus before his imminent return home later this month.
