PCSM reviews travel grants, membership

From Staff Reports

Members of the President's Commission on the Status of Minorities (PCSM) met on Monday, March 22, and were updated by Christopher Grey on the status of the group's annual travel grant awards.

Grey said the grant committee received 34 applications and awarded 10 grants totaling $4,100. All recipients, who include minority faculty and staff members, will use the funds to attend conferences from April 1 to Aug. 15 of this year and report back to PCSM. The group decided to request more money in next year's budget for the travel grant program.

In other business, John Hammond said he sent a letter to President Jim Wagner expressing concern regarding the delayed distribution of PCSM's diversity climate survey. The web-based survey was to be administered last month. The President's Cabinet recommended that PCSM work with Human Resources to retool the survey before it was administered campuswide.

PCSM will meet again on Tuesday, April 27, at 3 p.m. in 400 Administration.
