New
structure will sit atop P.E. Center: Lined
up to break ground late last year on an 80,000-square-foot addition
to the Woodruff P.E. Center are (left to right) interim Athletics
Director Jenny McDowell, Associate Professor of Health, Physical
Education and Dance Don Schroer, Emeritus Professor Clyde Partin,
and Senior Vice President and Dean for Campus Life John Ford.
Once complete in November, the P.E. Center will boast a rooftop
addendum encompassing four indoor tennis courts, a pair of multipurpose
courts and office space. The new space will fix the roof leaks
that have plagued the P.E. Center since its opening in 1983.

Jimmy
Carter the novelist stirs up The Hornet's Nest: Jimmy
Carter dutifully signed copies of his new novel, The Hornet’s
Nest, during a Dec. 12 booksigning at the Carter Center. Carter,
already known as the most active former president in U.S. history,
now is the first ex-chief executive to publish a work of fiction. Photo
