One
swimming champion meets another, as Mark Spitz, winner of seven gold
medals at the 1972 Summer Olympics, poses with Emory junior Holly Hinz,
winner of the 500-yard freestyle event at the 2004 NCAA Div. III national
championships in March. With a time of 4:58.31, Hinz became just the
seventh Emory woman ever to win an individual NCAA swimming crown.
She also placed second in the 400-yard individual medley, posting a
time of 4:30.25. Both the women’s and men's teams finished second
in the team standings. Spitz was in Atlanta to promote a business venture. Photo
