Celebration shared by Emory’s old and new:
Dean of Alumni Jake Ward is all smiles as a member of Corpus Cordis Aureum—Latin for “golden corps of the heart”—a newly christened group of Emory graduates from 1954 and earlier, who escorted the University’s Class of 2004 onto the Quadrangle for the 159th Commencement exercises, May 10. Clad in gold robes, the group symbolizes the rich tradition of which this year’s 3,300-plus graduates now belong. Corpus Cordis Aureum was just one of the new wrinkles added by this year’s combination of Commencement with the revamped Emory Weekend, moved for the first time from fall to spring.
