At an Aug. 11 banquet honoring her retirement, food service’s Helen Jenkins receives a going-away gift from Senior Vice President and Dean for Campus Life John Ford. Inside the box was a gold watch emblazoned with the Emory shield—just a small token of esteem for Jenkins, who has been an Emory employee for 60 years. Jenkins officially retired Aug. 1, but she hasn’t stayed away from campus. She returns for special events like the banquet and an Aug. 16 dessert reception, and also is helping train her replacement. Once that process is complete, Jenkins will continue to serve as a consultant.
