Birthday celebration to honor Emerson
Emory will host a musical tribute concert to honor Cherry Logan Emerson (‘38C, ‘39G) on his 90th birthday on Saturday, Sept. 30. The free concert, at 5:30 p.m. in Emerson Concert Hall of the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts, will feature the Emory Concert Choir, Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet and more.

Emerson, member of Emory’s Friends of Music, endowed the Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta’s annual Emerson Series as well as the Mary L. Emerson Chair of Piano Studies. In honor of his investment in the arts, Cherry Logan Emerson Concert Hall was named for him, opening its doors to the public in 2003.
