An exhibition of photographs featuring the work of 10 students opens on Jan. 14 at the Visual Arts Building, with a reception from 5–8 p.m., and runs through Feb. 27.
“Our City: Emory Photographs City of Refuge” [visualarts.emory.edu] tells stories about some of Atlanta’s at-risk people and those who serve them, using social documentary.
The exhibition, part of “The Lucid Eye: A Year of Photography at Emory, 2009–2010,” is the culmination of a collaboration between City of Refuge, a nonprofit providing resources to those living on the margin, and Emory’s visual arts department. Funded by the Emory Coca-Cola Artist-in-Residence program, this collaboration puts students into the community where they can make connections while making pictures.
