Scholar to speak on health care costs

Every country in the world is having a problem controlling rising health care costs, regardless of the type of its health care system.

Daniel Callahan, president emeritus of the Hastings Center and co-director of the Yale-Hastings Program in Ethics and Health Policy, will address the possibility of future health care systems without that problem.

He will speak Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 4 p.m. in the Center for Ethics Commons.

The bioethicist and senior research scholar will discuss how the key is a better understanding of the idea of medical progress, which currently knows no boundaries or finite goals.

The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Center for Ethics, the Rollins School of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
