Race, mental illness topics of initiative

Emory’s Race & Difference Initiative, The Carter Center and the James Weldon Johnson Institute will host Jonathan Metzl and Mab Segrest on Friday, Feb. 5, in a conversation titled “Race and Stigma in the Construction of Mental Illness.”

The event will be held at The Carter Center in the Cypress Room from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Metzl is professor of psychiatry and women’s studies at the University of Michigan. Segrest is professor of women’s studies at Connecticut College and a visiting scholar at the James Weldon Johnson Institute.
