'Think Pink' Eagles fight breast cancer
The Emory Eagles will team up to fight breast cancer at the “Think Pink” women's basketball game Sunday, Feb. 21.
Fans attending the game are asked to wear pink to show support in the fight against breast cancer. Those in attendance will receive a free Emory Eagles Think Pink shirt, while supplies last. As part of the Think Pink campaign, the Emory women's basketball team will be wearing pink uniforms specially designed for the event by Russell Athletic.
Other festivities will include free food, giveaways and entertainment. A special halftime presentation will recognize breast cancer survivors, families who have been affected by the disease, and researchers working to find a cure.
The Emory athletic department will make a donation to both the Winship Cancer Institute and the Emory School of Medicine to assist in the battle against the disease.
“This annual event has truly become a special University-wide tradition,” says Assistant Director of Athletics Angie Duprey. “Think Pink week is a time to recognize and raise awareness not just for breast cancer but the incredible research being done right here on the Emory campus.”
Admission to the game is free and donations will be accepted. Emory Eagles Think Pink merchandise as well as breast cancer awareness items will be on sale. All proceeds will go to the Winship Cancer Institute as well as the Emory School of Medicine Breast Cancer Research Program.
“We welcome everyone to any of the events during the week,” says Duprey. “And join us on Sunday as the women's basketball team helps us celebrate and honor all of those involved.”
