Make steps for healthy living

Take a 30-minute walk on April 7 for National Start Walking Day. The campus-wide event is part of the American Heart Association’s new national movement that calls on all Americans and their employers to create a culture of physical activity and health to live longer, heart-healthy lives through walking.

Meet at one of three locations for the walk: The Quad, at the back of Candler Library; Lullwater Park, at the gates; 1762 Clifton Rd., at the bus stop; or Emory University Hospital Midtown, at the fountain between the Orr and Glenn buildings.

RSVP to participate in a walk, held at 11:30 a.m.; 12:15 p.m.; and 1 p.m.

Eddie Gammell, manager of wellness programs at the Faculty Staff Assistance Program, notes, “Our partnership with American Heart Association continues to prosper and we are very proud of the Fit Friendly work that we continue to do with them.”

Emory Healthcare and the University have received Platinum Fit-Friendly Company Recognition from the AHA, which recognizes employers who champion the health of their employees and work to create a culture of physical activity in the workplace.

Also on April 7, the Emory community is invited to meet the staff from Student Health and Counseling Services and the Faculty Staff Assistance Program at Asbury Circle from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy snacks, music and prizes at the “Be Healthy Meet & Greet.”
