University wins procurement award

Emory has received the 2010 Award of Excellence in Procurement from the National Association of Educational Procurement (NAEP), as one of two organizations honored nationwide.

The national award recognizes collegiate procurement organizations with best practices in purchasing.

David Thurston, Emory’s associate vice president for financial operations, noted the University’s “keen focus on transforming procurement into a powerful financial management function” and said the best practices of the Procurement Services Department “represent a shining example of how procurement can drive bottom line results and create operational efficiencies that benefit the entire campus community.”

NAEP’s recognition highlighted the Procurement Services Department’s success in utilizing processes and technology to gain real-time visibility over spending, streamlining the purchasing process for faculty and staff and managing spending on goods and services.
