Take Note

Pick up new parking tags

Emory’s Parking and Transportation Office is advising current customers to pick up new parking permits for the 2011 academic year. Staff and students can continue using current permits through Aug. 31.

On Aug. 31, Emory will make upgrades to its parking management system, requiring current permit holders to obtain new parking permits.

“We anticipate the transition to the new parking system to be a smooth one,” says Lisa Underwood, associate vice president for parking and transportation. “As a courtesy, our office will issue current permit holders a new permit and we will keep those currently registered in commute alternative programs enrolled.”

Who will be impacted? Anyone currently enrolled in a carpool or vanpool and single occupancy vehicle drivers using permits to access parking decks and surface lots. Additionally, current Cliff permit users will need to pick up a new Eagle Pass, an occasional parking permit loaded with 20 annual passes. The Parking Office notes that parking rates have not been increased.

All new permits will be valid from Sept. 1, 2010 through Aug. 31, 2011. Employees must show an Emory ID or driver’s license to obtain their new parking permit. Permit holders should pick up their permit at campus distribution locations, or at the Parking Office at 1701 Lowergate Dr. on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., beginning Aug. 31.
