A friendly smackdown, known as the Oxford Olympics, took place Aug. 21, the Saturday evening before classes began on Wednesday, Aug. 25. It is one of the highlights of freshman orientation at Oxford College. Thirty teams, divided by residence hall floor, vie for a grand prize trophy, competing in a variety of events such as tricycle racing, tug of war, jousting on an inflatable platform, multi-event relay and other teambuilding contests.
