Bookstore hosts grand opening

Emory’s Barnes & Noble bookstore completes its arrival to campus with an official grand opening ribbon cutting and celebratory events Sept. 23-25.  The scheduled events offer a glimpse at the variety of bookstore offerings and services that are available for all members of the Emory community.

The events will include book discussions and signings by Emory faculty, presentations, Apple demonstrations and children’s activities, as well as a ribbon cutting with President Jim Wagner on Thursday, Sept. 23.  There will be raffles and prizes too, including a new iPad.

“In the first few weeks of the semester, this facility has quickly become a popular gathering spot for students, faculty and visitors,” says John Ford, senior vice president and dean for campus life. “The bookstore certainly is one aspect of the new Oxford Road building that draws additional foot traffic to the west side of Emory’s campus.”

“With the new bookstore, we wanted to improve the overall customer experience for faculty, students and the greater Emory community,” he continues, “and from the feedback received to date, we have achieved that goal.”
