Take Note

Logo marks 175 years for Emory

Come December, as students wrap up the fall semester and as the campus goes into holiday quiet, Emory will enter its 175th year of existence. Dec. 10 marks the 174th anniversary of Emory College's charter.

Beginning in January, signs and celebrations of the institution's longevity will become apparent. Banners around campus and across town will bear the anniversary logo.

Special lectures during Founders Week and later will focus on Emory's history. Regular events such as Dooley's Week and Commencement will take note of the anniversary year, and arts events will have a historical tinge.

The 175th year will culminate in December 2011 with a special convocation celebrating 175 Emory Historymakers as well as the impact of Emory on the city, state and nation.

Emory Creative Group has developed a special logo for the anniversary. All schools and units are encouraged to start using it in association with their own logo. The identifier is available on the Communications and Marketing website along with guidelines for its use.

For questions about the anniversary logo, contact Stanis Kodman, brand manager, at 404.727.2757.
