Creative Writing Reading Series welcomes Richard Bausch

Fiction writer Richard Bausch is the second author in this year’s Creative Writing Program Reading Series.

Bausch will give a reading and booksigning on Monday, Nov. 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Jones Room of Woodruff Library, and a colloquium on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 2:30 p.m. in N301 Callaway Center. Both events are free and open to the public.  

Bausch is the author of 11 novels, including “Rebel Powers” and “Peace.”  An acknowledged master of the short story, he has published seven collections, including “Spirits and Other Stories” and “Something Is Out There.” His stories have appeared in numerous magazines, journals and anthologies.

He has won two National Magazine Awards, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund Writer's Award, the Award of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and The 2004 PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story. He currently serves as the Moss Chair of Excellence in the Writing Program at The University of Memphis.
