Leave accrual changes; W-2s available online

January brings a change to the sick leave accrual policy for University staff and a reminder that employees can get their W-2 forms online.

Beginning Jan. 1, employees who work at least 20 hours or more per workweek will get up to eight hours of sick leave per month for 12 days of sick leave per year, regardless of how long the employee has worked here.

The policy was changed to put Emory in line with peer universities and Atlanta-area businesses. Previously, the University increased sick leave accrual as years of service rose.

The change in the policy will not change sick leave already accumulated. Nor will there be a cap now on the number of sick days an employee can accrue.

For questions or additional information, contact the WorkLife Resource Center at 404.727.8000.

To take the opportunity to get a W-2 form online, go to www.w2express.com for online instructions or call 1.877.325.9239.  The sign-up deadline is Friday, Jan. 14.

Employees who have signed up in the past do not need to again. However, there is a new security enrollment feature, a five-step process, required for all users, new and currently enrolled, Human Resources confirms.

Discounts on tax preparation software and on some tax preparation services are also available.  Those who sign up will get the discount information when they retrieve the W-2.

Visit Human Resources for more information.
