Miller-Ward Alumni House now open for community events
For 10 years, the Miller-Ward Alumni House has been Emory's home for its alumni community—now numbering 113,000. Now the house is expanding to a multipurpose center for all members of the Emory community.
An open house on Saturday, Feb. 19 will be held to show off the facility.
"Opening Miller-Ward for use by the entire campus community is an exciting new step," says Missy Rodil, house director. "A lot of people have worked at Emory for years, but never stepped foot inside the house. We're right down the street, very easy to get to, and we have onsite parking."
"Holding events at the house is a great to benefit faculty and staff as well as alumni," Rodil continues. "We offer a lot of different ways they can take advantage of the house. When you are looking for a comfortable space to hold a meeting or a beautiful one to host a wedding or wedding reception, we hope you'll think of the Miller-Ward Alumni House first."
With a spacious ballroom and charming garden, Miller-Ward is ideal for weddings, receptions and rehearsal dinners.
"Whether you work here today or graduated 15 years ago, Emory holds so many memories for our community, and your wedding is something you want to remember forever," says Miller-Ward Alumni House Coordinator Carey Smith-Marchi '09C. "So all of us at the Emory Alumni Association are excited to open the house for our soon-to-be brides and grooms."
Since it opened in 2000, Miller-Ward has hosted high-level Emory gatherings like Board of Trustees meetings, award ceremonies, meetings of the president's cabinet, departmental retreats, and much more. The house was named for Emory's deans of alumni Prentice Miller '27C-'28G and Jake Ward '33C-'36G.
"Miller-Ward offers a variety of comfortable, flexible spaces, so we can accommodate work groups of any size and need," says Smith-Marchi. "Our conference rooms include state-of-the-art equipment, like SMART boards and wireless connectivity; the Miller and Ward rooms can be set up for meetings, social gatherings or even meals. And it's all done with the Emory touch."
