Campaign Emory

MyEmory Spotlight: Dorothy Brown

Name: Dorothy Brown

Position: Professor of law, specializing in federal tax law and critical race theory, and co-leader of the University's Strategic Initiative on Race and Difference

At Emory: Since 2008

Where she gives: Student groups committed to inclusion

Why she gives: "I am interested in encouraging inclusion, not mere diversity. Diversity says please join our party, but do not ask us to change. Diversity requires assimilation. Inclusion requires transformation. It says join the party and help make it better. We're willing to do things differently. I want to give to the next generation of Emory leaders who will be at the forefront of the inclusion movement — our students."
