PCSW offers awards, women's leadership workshop
The President's Commission on the Status of Women invites nominations for awards that celebrate gender diversity, honor mentors and highlight scholarship.
The nominations deadline is Friday, March 18, for the following honors:
• Award for Gender Diversity in Academics
This award honors a department or school that demonstrates outstanding commitment to increasing gender diversity in their field or specialty. Nominees also support the participation of under-represented gender groups.

• Award for Relational Mentoring
This award honors success in leadership in the context of a mentoring relationship between a student, faculty member or staff member and a more senior student, faculty member or staff member in any part of Emory University. All mentoring combinations must include at least one female.

• Student Writing Awards
These annual writing awards from the PCSW are designed to highlight and celebrate outstanding student scholarship on issues of importance to women. The competition is open to undergraduate, graduate, and professional school student papers that relate to women's issues, gender or feminist theory.

In other news from PCSW:
The final session in the four-part workshop, "Taking Charge: Women and Leadership at Emory," will be Thursday, March 17, at 4 p.m. in the Jones Room of the Woodruff Library.
The topic is "Goals and Career Management." The session will be led by Laurie Patton, Charles Howard Candler Professor of Religion and director of the Center for Faculty Development and Excellence, and Sita Ranchod-Nilsson, director of the Institute for Developing Nations.
A special follow-up session, "Budget & Finance, Part II: Detailed Information Session," will be Friday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Jones Room.
Kerry Peluso, associate vice president for research administration, and Belva White, associate vice president in the Office of the Controller, are the leaders.
An RSVP is required for the special session as space is limited.
