Author Richard Bausch to give reading and colloquium

Fiction writer Richard Bausch opens the 2011-2012 Creative Writing Program Reading Series at Emory University. Bausch gives a free reading Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Jones Room of the Woodruff Library.

Additionally, Bausch will conduct a colloquium Thursday, Oct. 6 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Calloway Center, Room N301. Bausch will answer questions and discuss his works as well as his life as a writer.

Bausch is the author of 11 novels, including "Rebel Powers," "Violence," "Hello to The Cannibals," "Thanksgiving Night" and "Peace." A widely acknowledged master of the short story, he has published seven collections, including "Spirits and Other Stories," "The Fireman's Wife," and "Someone to Watch Over Me." His stories have appeared in numerous magazines, journals and anthologies.

Bausch has won two National Magazine Awards, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Lila Wallace Reader's Digest Fund Writer's Award, the Award of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the 2004 PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story. He currently serves as The Moss Chair of Excellence in the Writing Program at the University of Memphis.
