Emory Village roundabout prompts safety reminder

The new roundabout in Emory Village is allowing vehicular traffic to flow slowly but smoothly through the busy North Decatur Road, Oxford Road and Dowman Drive intersection, which was once a five-point intersection and lengthy traffic light. 

But the new traffic patterns – for motorists, cyclists or pedestrians – have raised questions about who yields to whom, and who has the right of way.  With pedestrian safety in mind, Emory is sharing safety tips for navigating a roundabout (PDF) from PEDS, an Atlanta-based pedestrian advocacy organization.
