Scientific supplier expo set for Sept. 29

Emory's first Scientific Supplier Expo will be Thursday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Cox Hall third floor ballroom.

Sponsored by Procurement Services, this is the first expo focused exclusively on scientific goods and services for the University research community and all those responsible for purchasing scientific supplies and services.

"The show promises to introduce the researchers to our suppliers and to see current and new products that are now available," says Mary Ellen McClellan, senior manager for marketing and communications in the Division of Finance.

Approximately 450 staff and faculty are expected to attend; registration is not required. Food will be available throughout the four-hour period.

Procurement surveys had shown that the research community would like a show of this type and magnitude on campus, with only sellers of scientific supplies, equipment and services.

McClellan says only Emory's contracted preferred vendors will be participating. “Procurement Services has a contract pricing and a relationship with each of these suppliers. There will be no scientific supplier at this Expo that does not have a contract with Emory University.”

The expo is not open to the public.
