Two-time Grammy-winning violinist Hilary Hahn performs at Emory's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts on Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. Valentina Lisitsa joins her on the piano. The duo will perform selections from Bach, Beethoven and Brahms.

Hahn is celebrated for her probing interpretations, technical assurance and compelling stage presence. Hahn appears regularly with the world's elite orchestras and recital series. She has released 12 albums; her latest, "Charles Ives: Four Sonatas," with Lisitsa on piano, is released this month—see the interview and album preview on YouTube.

While primarily a classical musician, Hahn participates in a number of alternative projects and collaborations, working frequently with folk singer/songwriter Josh Ritter. She is also active on the contemporary classical music scene. In 1999, she premiered and recorded the violin concerto written for her by the American bassist and composer Edgar Meyer, and in 2009 she premiered Jennifer Higdon's Pulitzer Prize-winning violin concerto, also dedicated to her.

Ukrainian-born Lisitsa currently resides in North Carolina and tours around the world. Her repertoire ranges from Bach and Mozart to Shostakovich and Bernstein. She has been called "the most popular pianist on YouTube" with millions of viewers.

The concert is part of the Flora Glenn Candler series, made possible by the Flora Glenn Candler Endowment. Tickets are discounted for Emory faculty, staff and students. For details, visit arts.emory.edu or call the Emory Arts box office at 404.727.5050.
