Food drive to fill need and bins

The 4th Annual Emory College Food Drive with the Atlanta Community Food Bank kicks off Tuesday, Oct. 25 and runs through Friday, Nov. 11.

The goal is to "fill the empty shelves of the Atlanta Community Food Bank with some much-needed resources," says Margaret Burks of the Emory College Staff Consortium.

Staff, faculty and students can make food donations in any of the 14 bins strategically placed around campus. Locations include Goizueta Business School east building, the Rich Building, White and Cox halls, Callaway and the Chemistry building, Dobbs University Center, 1599 Clifton, 1762 Clifton, School of Medicine lobby, Facilities Management, the Clairmont Parking Deck and the Briarcliff Campus.

Among the most needed food items are: peanut butter; canned tuna; beans, stews and soups; fruits and vegetables; 100-percent fruit juices; macaroni and cheese dinners; and whole-grain, low-sugar cereals.

"We encourage departments and floors to make individual ‘contribution boxes' to collect food, too," says Burks. She notes these should be taken to one of the 14 collection points set up by the food bank.
