Register for Emory Cares International Service Day

Registration opens Oct. 13 for the 9th annual Emory Cares International Service Day, to be held Saturday, Nov. 12.

Emory Cares brings together alumni, students, staff, faculty, parents and friends for a day of service to their local communities across the U.S. and abroad.

More than 40 projects, from park clean-ups to sorting donations at local nonprofits, are planned for the Atlanta area.  A project is also being hosted on the Oxford campus to create holiday gift boxes for children in foster care in Newton County, says Kate Gregory '09C, regional volunteer programs coordinator for the Emory Alumni Association.

The signature service program of the Emory Alumni Association is not just for students and alumni, notes Gregory. "We're always happy to have faculty and staff participate, especially because this is a family-friendly event," she says.

Atlanta participants can choose a morning or afternoon project.  Volunteers for projects scheduled for the morning meet at the location of the project they've signed up for. Afternoon projects are held from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and transportation is provided.

Lunch and an opening ceremony will be held at McDonough Field. Volunteers will get an Emory Cares 2011 T-shirt.
