Explore Master of Arts in Teaching at free info sessions

The Division of Educational Studies' Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program is offering an opportunity to explore obtaining a higher level and specialization of expertise. Free information sessions will be Oct. 22 and Nov. 19 at noon in Room 232 of the North Decatur Building for those interested in learning more about the 12-month MAT degree.

The MAT is designed to educate, and prepare for certification a small group of individuals who are committed to working with urban students.

Applicants are eligible if they have graduated from college with adequate coursework in one of the areas of certification: Middle grades (to teach grades 4-8); and 10 fields for secondary education (to teach grades 6-12) including English, mathematics, economics, history, political science, biology, chemistry, physics, Earth/space science and broad field science.

Tuition scholarships are available to MAT students accepted for next year's program which begins May 30. See www.des.emory.edu for details and prerequisites.

Emory's program received the 2007-2008 Distinguished Program in Teacher Education Award from the Georgia Association of Teacher Educators.
