Dictionary defines topics in Christian theology

How do you define Jesus, talk about Islam, or describe abortion, all from a Christian perspective? Ian A. McFarland, associate professor of systematic theology, took on the task of finding answers.

The result is The Cambridge Dictionary of Christian Theology (Cambridge University Press, 2011), designed to be a resource to students of theology, as well as scholars and clergy members. McFarland co-edited the single-volume dictionary with more than 500 entries, and authored 150 of them. Fifteen Candler faculty members also contributed entries.

Unlike previous dictionaries of Christian theology, McFarland's includes voices from a range of Christian beliefs and backgrounds, with contributors hailing from Europe and North America but also Africa and Asia.
