Get tips on budgeting, buying real estate

Workshops on buying real estate and budgeting basics and debt are planned for December from the Emory WorkLife Resource Center.

"Buying Real Estate in Today's Market" will be Friday, Dec. 2, at noon in the Harland Cinema of Dobbs University Center.

"The new changes in the real estate market sparked the offering of the real estate workshop," says Aaronnette Jackson of the WorkLife Resource Center.

Learn the best way to approach home ownership and financing. Bill Haas and Randy Lipp from the Foundation for Personal Financial Freedom will discuss what is happening in Atlanta's real estate market and how that is not necessarily how it's portrayed in the news. They note that now might be one of the best times to buy.

"The Basics of Budgeting & Consumer Debt" is Friday, Dec. 16, at noon in  Harland Cinema.

How to set up a budget, manage it and make it work will be taught as well as setting and achieving goals. Credit reports, credit scores and how credit card and loan debts affect them will be emphasized. Tammie Zeigler, business development manager at the Emory Alliance Credit Union, is the facilitator.

The workshops, which are part of the WorkLife Center's Finance Matters series, are free to Emory University faculty, staff, graduate students, and their dependents.  See the upcoming events schedule for more information and to register.
