Bookstores offer holiday sales and special events

Emory Barnes & Noble and the Michael C. Carlos Museum Bookshop are having special events and sales for the holidays.

Barnes & Noble is having a holiday party on campus on Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Holiday treats, prizes, free gift wrap holiday gift-giving tips will be available along with an exclusive 20 percent discount for all faculty and staff.  The event is open to the public.

The Carlos bookshop’s three-day holiday sale starts Thursday, Dec. 1 and runs through Saturday, Dec. 3. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

"This year our sale is reserved only for Carlos Museum members and the Emory community," a museum spokesperson said. Shoppers will need their membership or Emory ID.

Everything in the store will be discounted 20 percent, and the special sale discount will also apply to the expanded selection of bargain books in front of the store.

The restocked bookshop, with its emphasis on the ancient cultures of Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Near East, the Americas, Asia, and Africa, will feature thousands of books and gifts, jewelry and statuary from around the world, books and educational kits for kids, holiday cards, Fair Trade imports, world music, and more.
