Unsung Heroine Award nominations extended

The Center for Women at Emory is extending the deadline for its Unsung Heroine Awards to Friday, Dec. 9, at midnight. The awards will be held in conjunction with the President's Commission on the Status Women Awards on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 5:15 p.m.

This extra time will allow for more nominations of women who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to issues that affect women at Emory or in the larger community, but whose efforts have not received previous or sufficient accolades and/or formal recognition.

Undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, administrators, staff or retirees can be nominated for the honor.

Nomination letters should explain how the nominee has:

• Taken substantial risks to challenge sexism; or

• Trail-blazed in previously male-dominated environments; or

• Performed significant community service work in the promotion of safety, justice and equity for girls and women; or

• Served as a role model or mentor for girls or women.

For more information, send questions to cwe@emory.edu or visit www.womenscenter.emory.edu.

Fax nominations to 404.727.2002 or send by campus mail to the Center for Women, Mailstop 3210-003-1GG.

In collaboration with the Center for Women, the PCSW is soliciting nominations for three awards:

Award for Gender Diversity in Academics;
Student Writing Awards;
Award for Relational Mentoring.

PSCW award nominations must be received by Dec. 8. Submit nomination letters to nariscia.philip@emory.edu.
