Look for anniversary ads on Dec. 7

In honor of Emory's 175th anniversary, the University will run a full-page ad in The New York Times and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Wednesday, Dec. 7. The ads are intended to commemorate the milestone in a significant way, increase Emory's name recognition nationwide, educate the public about the University's accomplishments, and boost alumni pride.

A local advertising campaign designed to reach civic and business leaders has been reinforcing the street banner messaging campaign of "Emory and Atlanta, Georgia: A Partnership of Heart and Mind" and increase the understanding of Emory's contributions to the region and the state.

Ads appeared this fall in Delta Sky Magazine, Georgia Trend, Atlanta Magazine, Atlanta Business Chronicle, WABE-FM, Georgia Public Broadcasting Radio and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In addition to the local campaign, the occasion of the 175th anniversary provided the opportunity to run an ad in the national edition of the New York Times. Dec. 7 is also the date of Emory's 175th Anniversary Convocation, a major celebration on campus.

The ads were created in-house by Emory's Office of Communications & Marketing, leading to significant savings. The Emory Creative Group and Development Communications teams concepted, wrote and designed the ads, says Executive Director of University Marketing Jan Gleason, who notes that ad rates were negotiated keenly as well.
