Preterm Bills and Financial Aid
In mid-July students will begin receiving Fall pre-term bills generated by Student Financial Services. Registration bills represent direct charges for tuition and fees. If you have chosen university housing or meal plan options these charges will also be included. If you have received an award notification, your aid will be reflected as an anticipated credit on your pre-term bill, provided you have accepted your awards in the online student center in OPUS.
You may also view current student account activity, aid awards, scheduled aid disbursement dates and your financial aid cost of attendance within the student center as well. Do not be alarmed if your financial aid disbursement date does not match the payment due date. Student Financial Services will consider anticipated financial aid as a payment toward your bill. However, if your Fall term aid disbursement will not cover all of your direct charges, be prepared to make a payment as directed. Remember that the financial aid cost of attendance is a modest estimate of educational expenses rather than the sum of actual expenses. We encourage you to make your housing and meal selections wisely and to develop an individual budget with your aid package and with your direct and indirect costs in mind.
As you prepare for the Fall semester, keep in mind that aid disbursements are contingent on meeting all registration requirements and conditions of your aid award. Student Financial Services will process financial aid refunds after disbursements begin if a credit balance exists on your student account. Also note that books are not directly charged to your student account. It is recommended that you review your class schedule and disbursement dates carefully and prepare accordingly. Some classes may require book selections prior to receiving a financial aid refund.
