Graduate School: How to Apply

As a financial aid applicant for the 2012-13 academic year, you may be interested in receiving aid for the Summer 2013 term. Packaging of summer school financial aid will begin March 2013. If you wish to apply for summer financial aid, please note the following:

  1. To be awarded student loans, complete the Summer 2013 Graduate School Financial Aid Application. You may either a) submit the application information electronically or b) print and complete the form and mail to the Office of Financial Aid.
  2. Aid applicants must be registered for at least 6 hours in order to be considered for federal loans. If you plan to register for the summer term, remember that pre-registration begins February 10, 2013. It is important you register early to ensure that your aid funds will be available by the start of the term.
  3. You must have completed a 2012-13 FAFSA application and included Emory’s school code of 001564. If you have not yet submitted your 2012-13 FAFSA, sign onto FAFSA On The Web and complete the application online. The deadline for filing the 2012-13 FAFSA is June 30, 2013.
  4. You must have no outstanding items under your To Do List on OPUS.

After you have registered for summer classes, we will review your eligibility for summer aid. The award will be based on your number of registered hours. If you have not expended your Federal Stafford Loan eligibility during Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 terms we will send you a summer award email (to your Emory assigned email address) directing you to OPUS to view and accept/decline the award.

If you have expended your federal loan eligibility, you will be notified by email directing you to our website for information on how to apply for a Federal Graduate PLUS Loan or private education loans to cover your cost of attendance.
