Students starting in Graduate Allied Health (Anesthesiology, Physical Therapy, Genetic Counseling) program in Summer 2013 will need to submit two applications for financial aid:

  1. 2012-13 FAFSA to be considered for the Summer 2013 award period (submit 2011 Student Tax Return if selected for verification).
  2. 2013-14 FAFSA to be considered for the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 award periods (submit 2012 IRS Tax Transcript if selected for verification).

At the time you begin your application for admission, you should begin the financial aid application process. If you wait until you are admitted to apply for financial aid, you will miss important deadlines. Completing the necessary applications and submitting the requested documents in advance will expedite the process once you are admitted.

Applying for financial aid can seem overwhelming at first. The information about the application process, required forms and deadlines included on this web page will make it simpler for you.

Step 1: Complete and submit the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using FAFSA On The Web.

Remember to complete both the 2012-13 FAFSA (used to determine Summer 2013 aid eligibility) and the 2013-14 FAFSA (used to determine Fall 2013/Spring 2014 aid eligibility).

Be sure to include Emory’s School Code 001564 when completing the FAFSA. This code will ensure Emory receives your FAFSA information electronically from the federal processor.

Using FAFSA On The Web:

Emory strongly recommends using FAFSA on the Web as it offers you the option to use IRS data retrieval to transfer your 2012 tax return information directly to the FAFSA if your returns have been filed. Students who do not use the IRS Data Retrieval process may be required to submit an IRS Tax Transcript to complete the federal verification process.

In order to transfer your data and to electronically sign your FAFSA application, you should register for a PIN (Personal Identification Number) at www.pin.ed.gov. The PIN is an electronic access code that serves as your identifier with the federal processor. The PIN allows you to apply online for federal aid, make corrections to your FAFSA and access your Student Aid Report (SAR).

The Department of Education’s Central Processing System will process your application in three to five days, provided you (and your parents’, if applicable) have provided electronic signatures using your PIN.

Step 2: After you apply, you will receive your Student Aid Report (SAR).

Your SAR reports all the information you gave on your FAFSA. You will get an email from the federal processor within a few days containing a secure link so you can access your SAR on the web.

Review your SAR carefully to make sure it is correct and complete. If you need to make corrections to the SAR, you can make them online. Your SAR will contain instructions on how to make corrections.

Step 3: Once you have been admitted and your FAFSA has been received by Emory your file will be reviewed by a Financial Aid Advisor.

The advisor reviewing your file will determine whether you are eligible to receive financial aid. During this review, you may be asked to submit additional documents. Please check OPUS frequently for outstanding items under your To Do List.

Step 4: After your file has been reviewed and your financial aid eligibility determined, you will receive an email notifying you that your award package is available.

Your award email will be sent to your email address marked as preferred within the OPUS Student Center at www.opus.emory.edu. Please Accept/Decline your individual awards as appropriate and follow all instructions to ensure you fully understand your aid package, as well as all terms, conditions, and disclosures.

Please note you will be sent separate email award notifications for the Summer 2013 academic period and the Fall 2013/Spring 2014 academic period.
