Beta Theta Pi was founded at Miami University (OH) in 1839 and today has over 140 chapters in the US and Canada. The fraternity was founded on the principles of respect for tradition, lifelong friendship, academic excellence, leadership, community service, and high standards of moral conduct. Emory’s Gamma Upsilon chapter of Beta Theta Pi was founded in 1949.
