After being asked to wear the badge of a male fraternities but not being welcomed to know their secrets, the founders of Kappa Alpha Theta established the first women's Greek-letter fraternity chapter at Indiana Asbury (now DePauw) University in 1870.  Today, there are more than 120 chapters at colleges and universities across the US and Canada, and our total initiated members number more than 170,000. Emory's Delta Zeta chapter of was founded in 1959.
