Sigma Delta Tau was founded in March of 1917 on the campus of Cornell University. The founders had experienced the subtle discrimination practiced against religious minorities by many organizations at the time. In response, and as a way to meet their own social and housing needs, Sigma Delta Tau was established. Emory’s Delta Epsilon chapter of Sigma Delta Tau was founded in 2001.
