Health Insurance
All students at Emory University, including graduate students and international students, must have health insurance coverage. Students are required to either enroll in the Emory University Student Health Insurance Policy (EUSHIP), or have health insurance that meets specific waiver criteria.
To learn about the EUSHIP at www.emory.edu/UHS/ or read the plan brochure, go to www.chickering.com (click on "Find Your School" and enter Emory University; Chickering administers Emory's student health plan).
Students will be automatically enrolled in the EUSHIP and will be billed for coverage through Emory Student Financial Services (the Emory Bursar's Office). Charges for the Emory/Aetna plan will be placed on student accounts on July 1.
Students (including international students) may purchase coverage for their eligible dependents (spouse, qualified domestic partner, or children) by directly enrolling and paying through Chickering. Optional coverage and dependent coverage cannot be paid via Emory Student Financial Services
Students who wish to waive coverage under the EUSHIP must submit proof of comparable coverage through the Emory University OPUS system. The waiver process requires a student to show that he or she is enrolled in a health insurance plan that provides coverage comparable to the EUSHIP.
- If the waiver is completed before the July 1 billing date, no charges will be posted on the student's account.
- If the waiver is completed after July 1 but before August 30 (the first day of fall classes), the posted charges will be reversed.
- If the waiver is not complete by August 30, the student will be automatically enrolled in the EUSHIP.
- If you are a new student and you are not admitted until after August 30, your school or college will provide you with the necessary paperwork to complete the waiver process after the deadline.
