It emphasizes a wide range of critical approaches, including interdisciplinary and theoretical methodologies. The PhD in English requires five years beyond the BA and is designed to prepare students for careers as both scholars and teachers. Approximately 80% of our graduates over the last ten years currently teach full-time in colleges or universities.

Additional Information:  The following are requirements for the PhD: Course requirements - A candidate for the PhD entering with the BA is expected to take at least thirteen seminars not including the Teaching of Composition: six in the first year, six in the second, and one in the third.
