Application

The Graduate School strongly encourages applicants to use the online application. Use of the online application allows the department immediate access to your application and will allow you to track the status of credentials that  the graduate school has received. When you apply online you will not need to send a paper application.

The deadline for receipt of applications and all supporting materials for most departments or programs is January 3. A few departments and programs have earlier deadlines. You must meet the deadline set by the department or program to which you are applying. For more information, see About the Online Application Process.

About the Online Application Process:

All students, domestic and international, who are applying to a graduate degree program should use the online application. The online application is the preferred method of applying. It allows you to submit statements of purpose, writing samples, and letters of recommendation electronically. When you apply online you will not need to send a paper application.

In order to access the online application, you will be required to create a user account and establish a password. Creating the account is fast, free, and easy. The process consists of populating the 11 required fields of the account registration form. After completing the registration form, you must answer five preliminary questions that enable the system to properly route you to the appropriate application type and pre-populate certain fields of the application. You will then continue to the formal application, unless prompted by the system to complete a preliminary application. For more information, see Preliminary Application.

The formal application consists of the following areas:

In addition to the above, the formal application section lists the application fee and application deadlines, and allows you to track your status and update answers to the preliminary questions.

Note: The Graduate Review Exam (GRE) code for Emory is 5187.
