Vacating Procedures

Helpful Tips for Checking Out:

Be sure your rent is paid in full.
Be sure to file your forwarding address with:

• Clairmont Campus Mailroom/USPS
• Creditors (charge cards, accounts, etc.)
• Insurance companies
• Magazine subscriptions
• Relatives and friends
• Roommate
• Community Office – on Intent to Vacate Form

Discontinue services such as:

• Special calling features and calling card arrangements with Emory Telecommunications (404.727.4320)
• Newspaper and other deliveries, diaper services, etc.
• Furniture rentals (don't forget to sign a key release at our office if you can’t be there when they come)

Arrange for the transfer of, or collect records from:

• Schools
• Automobile and drivers licenses, car insurance
• Banks and savings and loans
• Doctors and dentists, prescriptions

Pick up:

• Dry cleaning
• Lay-away purchases

Return:

• Library books
• Borrowed

* When reserving a moving van or truck and equipment, remember, clearance of the parking deck is 7ft.
* Buy and/or collect boxes.
* Do you have any unwanted items? Try selling them within the community (you can post notices in any of the public notice boards), place an ad in the Emory Wheel or list it on LearnLink. You may also wish to contact the Salvation Army, Goodwill, Kidney Foundation, or other charities. Most will pick up items if they can.
