Clairmont Campus Summer Staff
Clairmont Summer Staff members report to the Director of Clairmont Campus. Summer Staff members perform a variety of duties to assist the daily operations of Clairmont Campus. These positions will challenge the abilities of the chosen candidates and offer them valuable business skills in communication and organization, as well as a basic understanding of facilities management. Although weekly schedules may vary, Summer Staff members will work approximately 10 hours per week in the Clairmont Community Office, plus serve as part of an after-hours on-call rotation.
The ideal candidate for the Summer Staff position should be organized, dependable, mature, responsible, and have strong administrative skills. Summer Staff members must be able to function effectively as both a leader and a member of a team. Summer Staff members must be able to work independently, multi-task, and accept constructive feedback.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities shall include but are not limited to:
- Learn all aspects of the daily operations of Clairmont Campus to ensure a successful stay for residents and visitors to campus.
- Prepare and process resident and guest check-in and check-out materials, including completing apartment inspections using Room Condition Reports (RCRs) and pulling/returning keys.
- Perform daily customer service operations such as handling resident/participant/guest check-in and check-out, explaining policies and procedures, giving directions, handling lock outs, and reporting specific needs/concerns of residents/participants/guests to the appropriate staff members.
- Serve as a resource/referral person for Clairmont Campus residents and community guests by responding to requests for information about Emory, the Atlanta community, and Clairmont Campus.
- Serve as a member of the on-call rotation team for Clairmont Campus. On-call hours are tentatively set for 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, Monday through Thursday nights; 8:00 PM to 12:00 noon on Friday nights; 5:00 PM to 12:00 noon on Saturday nights; and 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM on Sunday nights. We anticipate having 12-13 members on this rotation.
- Answer telephone inquiries and messages.
- Assist with key management.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests by contacting the appropriate person(s).
- Submit, track, and follow-up on work orders, damage assessments, and billing paperwork for damages to the apartments at Clairmont Campus.
- Regularly check staff mailbox, voicemail, personal email account, and staff Learnlink sites as outlined by professional staff.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and staff meetings as requested.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Must be an Emory or Oxford student in good academic and judicial standing.
- Must be
able to commit to the entire summer dates of employment (May 10 - August 10, 2012).
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Successful candidates must attend a one-day training session on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Office Assistants may take classes and/or have another job during the summer, as long as these don't interfere with completing one's responsibilities. The five (5) Clairmont Campus Summer Staff members are responsible for covering all hours that the Clairmont Campus Community Office is open during the summer. (Summer office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.) Summer staff members must be available for at least 25 of the possible 45 working hours each week in order for us to provide coverage for the entire schedule.
- Must possess an excellent customer service work ethic.

Employment Dates
Dates of employment for Summer 2012 is from Thursday, May 10, 2012
through Friday, August 10, 2012. There will be optional, hourly paid shift work available from August 11 through 24, 2012.
Summer Staff may take one four-day vacation during the summer. Individuals are responsible for finding coverage for their shifts while they are away from work.

Remuneration
- From May 16 through August 12, Office Assistant staff members will receive housing in an apartment at Clairmont Campus in exchange for their 10 hours per week of office work and for their on-call shifts. Please note that during this time period, there is no hourly compensation for these shifts other than free housing.
- From May 10 through 15 and August 11 through 24, Office Assistants will be paid at a rate of $8.50 per hour for each shift they work.
- Summer housing assignments will end on approximately August 10, 2012. At this time, we will transition you to your fall on-campus housing assignment (if applicable) or you will need to move off-campus if you will not be living on campus for the fall semester.
- Office Assistant staff members are considered to be Residence Life & Housing staff members, not student employees, and no formal relationship exists between Office Assistant staff members and the University.
