Clairmont Campus Summer Staff
Clairmont Campus Summer Staff members report to the Director of Clairmont Campus. Summer staff members perform a variety of duties to assist the daily operations of Clairmont Campus. These positions will challenge the abilities of the chosen candidates and offer them valuable business skills in communication and organization, as well as a basic understanding of facilities management. Although weekly schedules may vary, Summer Staff members will work approximately 10 hours per week.
The ideal candidate for the Summer Staff position should be organized, dependable, mature, responsible, and have strong administrative skills. Summer Staff members must be able to function effectively as both a leader and a member of a team. Summer Staff members must be able to work independently, multi-task, and accept constructive feedback.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities shall include but are not limited to:
- Learn all aspects of the daily operations of Clairmont Campus to ensure a successful stay for residents and visitors to campus.
- Prepare and process resident and guest check-in and check-out materials, including completing apartment inspections using Room Condition Reports (RCRs) and pulling/returning keys.
- Adhere to assigned work schedules.
- Perform daily customer service operations such as handling resident/participant/guest check-in and check-out, explaining policies and procedures, giving directions, handling lock outs, and reporting specific needs/concerns of residents/participants/guests to the appropriate staff members.
- Serve as a resource/referral person for Clairmont Campus residents and community guests by responding to requests for information about Emory, the Atlanta community, and Clairmont Campus.
- Serve as a member of the on-call rotation team for Clairmont Campus. On-call hours are tentatively set for 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, Monday through Thursday nights; 8:00 PM to 12:00 noon on Friday nights; 5:00 PM to 12:00 noon on Saturday nights; and 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM on Sunday nights. We anticipate having 12-13 members on this rotation.
- While on call, perform nightly checks to ensure that apartments are locked after custodial and/or maintenance work.
- Answer telephone inquiries and messages.
- Assist with key management.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests by contacting the appropriate person(s).
- Submit, track, and follow-up on work orders, damage assessments, and billing paperwork for damages to the apartments at Clairmont Campus.
- Regularly check staff mailbox, voicemail, personal email account, and staff Learnlink sites as outlined by professional staff.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and staff meetings as requested.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Must be an Emory or Oxford student in good academic and judicial standing.
- Must be
able to commit to the entire summer dates of employment (May 13 - August 7, 2011).
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Summer Staff may take classes and/or have another job during the summer, as long as these don't interfere with completing one's responsibilities.
- Must possess an excellent customer service work ethic.

Remuneration
- Each Summer Staff member will be provided with housing in an apartment at Clairmont Campus. There is no hourly compensation for the first 10 hours per week (of work) and the on-call responsibilities other than free housing. There is a possibility of pay for work beyond 10 hours per week but this is not guaranteed.
- Summer Staff members are considered to be Residence Life & Housing staff members, not student employees, and no formal relationship exists between Summer Staff members and the University.
